Hi. My name is Michelle

My aim is to help you to improve your emotional wellbeing and mental health through a series of either face to face, telephone or video link hypnotherapy (with counselling) or Reiki sessions.

Each session is gentle and uplifting, based on empathy, compassion and acceptance.

I am happy to work either face to face or via video link, whichever feels more comfortable for you. Sessions can take place in the safe space of my home in Bewerley. If you feel you would benefit from therapy in a peaceful woodland setting these can be arranged in our hexagon barn/outdoor space at Fishpond Woods, Bewerley. Home visits can also be arranged for anyone experiencing difficulties with mobility. Sessions usually last for 50 minutes.

A treatment plan personalised for you

A treatment plan personalised for you

Starting with a free half-hour consultation session (either by phone, video link, or in person, whichever you would prefer) together we assess if hypnotherapy with counselling and/or Reiki feels right for you. We talk through a consultation form to gather information about you and the positive changes you would like to see in your life. This information helps to create a personalised treatment plan for you.

For some clients just one or two sessions might be enough, booking further sessions as and when the need arises. Many people benefit from having a series of 6-12 sessions in order for transformational change to happen. Sessions over a longer term might be needed for more complex issues.

Sessions are personalised according to your needs and the positive changes you want to make in your life.

After our initial half hour consultation, I offer a taster session at a discounted rate:

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a changed state of awareness and increased relaxation that allows you to experience improved focus and concentration. During hypnosis, most people feel calm and relaxed. Hypnotherapy can make you more open to suggestions about behavioural changes you wish to make.

Although you are more open to suggestion during deep hypnosis, you never lose control over your actions during a hypnotherapy session.

Hypnotherapy provided by a trained and qualified hypnotherapist is a safe, complementary and alternative medical treatment.

Choose a health care provider who is certified to perform hypnosis. If you can, get a recommendation from someone you trust. Learn about any provider you are considering. Call the hypnotherapist for a chat. Ask questions, such as:

  • Do you have specialised training in hypnosis?
  • Does insurance cover your services?

Choosing the right therapist is important. A short initial consultation, either by phone of face to face, is a great way for you to get to know the hypnotherapist a little and for the hypnotherapist to get to know you and your treatment goals. It is important that you feel safe and comfortable.

You will fill in a short consultation form. Your hypnotherapist can then develop a personalised hypnotherapy treatment plan for you which they will share with you on your first full session.

Before you begin, your hypnotherapist explains the process of hypnosis and reviews your treatment goals. Your hypnotherapist will begin by talking in a gentle, soothing voice, describing images that help you to relax and to feel a sense of safety and well-being.

When you’re relaxed and calm, your hypnotherapist will suggest ways for you to achieve your goals. That may include, for example, ways to ease pain or reduce cravings to smoke. Your therapist may help you visualize vivid, meaningful mental images of yourself accomplishing your goals.

When the session is over, you may be able to bring yourself out of hypnosis on your own. Or your therapist may help you gradually and comfortably increase your alertness.

Contrary to what you might see in films or during a hypnotist stage act, people do not lose control over their actions during hypnosis. They usually remain aware during a session and remember what happens.

Over time, you may be able to practise self-hypnosis. During self-hypnosis, you reach a state of relaxation and calm without a hypnotherapist’s guidance. This skill can be helpful in many situations, such as before surgery or other medical procedures.

Hypnosis can be effective in helping people manage their symptoms of pain, stress and anxiety more easily. Hypnotherapy may also be effective as part of a larger treatment plan for stopping smoking or losing weight.

In general, the more quickly and easily you are able to reach a state of relaxation and calm during a session, the more likely you will benefit from your therapist’s suggestions.

The number of sessions needed varies between clients. Sometimes one session is highly effective, sometimes a block of 3 or 6 sessions is beneficial. I discuss options with you at the Initial Assessment session, after which I draw up a treatment plan to share with you.

Reiki

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for reducing stress and helping you to relax. It also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use.

What can you expect in a Reiki session?

At the beginning of the Reiki session, the practitioner will usually spend some time talking to you to gain a deeper understanding of your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. This conversation helps to establish trust and allows the practitioner to tailor the session to your specific needs.

The practitioner may ask about any areas of discomfort or pain, previous injuries or traumas, ongoing stress, or specific goals you want to achieve through the session

Once the introductory conversation is complete, you will lie down on a comfortable treatment table, fully clothed. If lying down is uncomfortable, alternative positions such as sitting or reclining may be used. The practitioner may adjust the room temperature and provide soft blankets or cushions for added comfort.

The Reiki session itself is characterized by a light and gentle touch or the placing of hands above your body. The practitioner’s hands are positioned on or slightly above various areas of the body, following a specific sequence and then based on their intuition.

During the session, you may experience sensations such as warmth, tingling, or a subtle flow of energy; you may experience a variety of colours. Each person’s experience of Reiki is unique, and sensations vary from individual to individual. It is important to note that Reiki is a safe and non-invasive practice, and you should feel comfortable expressing any discomfort or concerns throughout.

A fundamental belief in Reiki is that the practitioner acts as a channel for the universal life force energy. This energy is transferred through the practitioner’s hands to you, promoting a sense of balance and harmony in the body, mind, and spirit. The practitioner does not impose their own energy, but rather facilitates the flow of life force energy already present within you.

The energy transferred during a Reiki session is believed to stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities. It can help release energetic blockages, support the immune system, and facilitate emotional and physical healing. You may experience a deep sense of relaxation, stress reduction, and an overall feeling of well-being.

As the Reiki session nears its end, the practitioner will gently guide you back to a fully awake state. They may provide time for you to rest and integrate the energy work that has taken place. The practitioner may also offer some post-session suggestions, such as drinking plenty of water, engaging in self-care activities, and practising mindfulness or meditation.

The closing of a Reiki session often involves a brief discussion between the practitioner and yourself to reflect on the experience and address any questions or insights that have arisen. This dialogue can provide valuable feedback and help you to understand the potential long-term effects of the session.

The effects of a Reiki session can vary from person to person. Many recipients report feeling a deep sense of relaxation and peace immediately after the session. Some experience improved sleep, reduced pain, or enhanced mental clarity. Others may notice emotional releases or heightened awareness of their own energy.

It is essential to remember that Reiki is a complementary therapy and should not replace conventional medical treatments or professional advice. However, many people find that combining Reiki with traditional medicine can be a powerful approach to healing, promoting a holistic and balanced lifestyle.
